To Whom It May Concern:

Effective immediately we will no longer retain the medical bills that accompany the reimbursement requests. Any bill not being paid, because additional information is needed, will be returned with our audit sheets. All other bills will be destroyed.

***************** NOTICE****************

Section 42-7-320 (B) (2) SC Code of Laws states: "An employer, self-insurer, or insurance carrier must submit all required information for consideration of accepting a claim to the Second Injury Fund by June 30, 2011. Failure to submit all required information to the fund by June 30, 2011, so that the claim can be accepted, compromised, or denied shall bar an employer, self-insurer, or insurance carrier from recovery from the fund."

The fund will not accept any material needed to make a decision on the acceptance of a claim after June 30, 2011. If we do not have the required material by June 30, 2011 the claim will be denied.

Welcome to the South Carolina Second Injury Fund

Our vision is to remain a vital and intricate component of the South Carolina Workers' Compensation system and nationally recognized as the benchmark for other like funds.

The Second Injury Fund functions within the South Carolina Workers' Compensation system. The mission of the Fund is twofold:

1. To protect employers from the higher cost of insurance that can occur when an injury combines with a prior disability to result in substantially increased medical or disability costs than the accident alone would have produced. This ensures that an employer is not made to suffer a greater monetary loss or increased insurance costs because they hire or retain an employee who has a disability.

2. To ensure payment of workers' compensation benefits to injured employees whose employers have failed to comply with the coverage provisions of the Workers' Compensation Law.

The Fund is self-sustaining and receives no state appropriation. We are proud that we have been able to serve our State for over three decades and we remain committed to our mission.
